Haunted Palace, The, poem by Poe, published in the Baltimore Museum (1839), and as one of the hero's “rhymed verbal improvisations” in The Fall of the House of Usher. The six stanzas (rhymed ababcdcd) depict in allegory the progress of insanity within the phantom‐haunted “palace” of a decaying mind.
