Harris, George Washington

Harris, George Washington (1814–69), Tennessee River steamboat captain, later became a political writer and contributed humorous sketches to local newspapers and The Spirit of the Times. He is best known for his Sut Lovingood. Yarns (1867), a collection of the tall tales and humor of the Old Southwest.
