Conqueror Worm, The

Conqueror Worm, The ,poem by Poe, published in The Raven and Other Poems (1845) and later included in “Ligeia.” It consists of five eight‐line stanzas, rhymed ababcbcb, the meter being free though most frequently iambic and anapaestic. The final lines convey the subject:…the play is the tragedy, “Man,”And its hero, the Conqueror Worm.
