Chita: A Memory of Last Island

Chita: A Memory of Last Island, tale by Lafcadio Hearn, published in 1889. A narrative of the destruction of “Last Island” in the Gulf of Mexico by a tidal wave (1856), it is essentially a series of vivid descriptions unified by its account of a lost child.
