twisted pair cabling Cabling that contains two wires twisted together and is surrounded by an insulating material. The wires are twisted together in order to reduce electrical interference. Such wires can achieve speeds of several Mbits/s over a small number of kilometres. There are two sorts of twisted cable: UNSHIELDED TWISTED PAIR CABLE and SHIELDED TWISTED PAIR CABLE.
