MARKUP LANGUAGES used on the Internet,
HYPERTEXT MARKUP LANGUAGE and the
EXTENSIBLE MARKUP LANGUAGE, tags are introduced by the < character and terminated by the > character, as in the HTML tag <P> which instructs a
BROWSER to display the line break at the end of a paragraph. In HTML, tags are used for display, while in the Extensible Markup Language they are used to indicate structure.
