server API An API which enables applications such as ECOMMERCE programs to interact with a WEB SERVER. Such APIs are intended to address some of the performance problems associated with standard CGI PROGRAMMING. Server APIs are usually associated with a specific Web server vendor. Two of the best known are Netscape's NSAPI and Microsoft's ISAPI.
