proposed standard
proposed standard An Internet standard document originated by the
INTERNET ENGINEERING TASK FORCE which originally saw life as a
REQUEST FOR COMMENT. It is the first solid draft of a standard. The
INTERNET SOCIETY insist that a proposed standard must remain in this state for at least six months, long enough for two sample implementations of the standard to be developed and tested in order to check it out. Once the implementations have been rigorously checked the standard becomes a
DRAFT STANDARD.
