bitmapped graphic

bitmapped graphic A way of defining graphic images by storing information about each PIXEL in a series of bits. For example, each pixel may have information stored about its colour, saturation level, and brightness. Bitmapped graphics are stored in the same way that a computer displays the image: as a block of pixels. This means that the display of bitmapped graphics is computationally very easy. It is one of the major graphics formats used on the Internet: GIF is a bitmapped graphic format.
