Web site promotion

Web site promotion The process whereby a WEB SITE advertises itself to attract visitors. There are a number of ways of doing this. The first is to register with a number of SEARCH ENGINES, which can be done via SEARCH ENGINE SUBMISSION sites or MULTIPLE SEARCH ENGINE SUBMISSION sites. Another way is to submit the site to BEST OF THE WEB or COOL SITE OF THE DAY sites. A third way is to announce a site in one of a number of specialized NEWSGROUPS known as ANNOUNCEMENT NEWSGROUPS set up to announce commercial ventures. A fourth way is to contact the owners of other similar sites in order to see whether they will carry out LINK SWAPPING with you or make your Web site part of a WEB RING. A fifth way is to notify paper-based periodicals that cover the area which your Web site is concerned with: newspapers and magazines often have a short Web site listing section.
