Personal Computer Memory Card International Association A successful standardization effort initiated by a number of MODEM manufacturers during the 1980s to define a standard for small interface PC CARDS. Such cards have expanded from their original use as MODEMS and embraced hardware devices such as sound cards, memory, and GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM cards.
