Message Authentication Code

Message Authentication Code A version of a MESSAGE DIGEST which also includes a PASSWORD. The user of a message authentication code cannot recreate the number associated with the message digest unless they also know the password. This represents an attempt to strengthen the security of basic message digest schemes.
