Internet standard

Internet standard A standard sanctioned and recognised as an official standard by the INTERNET SOCIETY. Standards exist for virtually every base technology used on the Internet including the HYPERTEXT MARKUP LANGUAGE, CASCADING STYLE SHEETS, and DIGITAL SIGNATURES. An Internet standard starts life as a REQUEST FOR COMMENT issued by the INTERNET ENGINEERING TASK FORCE. This then goes through a process of refinement where it moves from being a request for comment to being an INTERNET DRAFT, PROPOSED STANDARD, DRAFT STANDARD, and finally an OFFICIAL STANDARD.
