Internet Inter-ORB Protocol

Internet Inter-ORB Protocol A PROTOCOL that enables OBJECT REQUEST BROKERS to communicate with each other. This means that DISTRIBUTED OBJECTS which are defined by the COMMON OBJECT REQUEST BROKER ARCHITECTURE (CORBA) and implemented by different vendors are able to communicate with each other. In the early days of CORBA this protocol was not defined, which meant that CORBA objects produced by software from different vendors were incapable of communicating with each other. Often abbreviated to IIOP.
