Internet Assigned Number Authority A non-profit-making organization set up to define and store the numbers and parameters which are responsible for the standard working of the Internet. For example, it defines the numbers of DEDICATED PORTS and oversees the DOMAIN NAME system. It was reorganized in 1999 and renamed the INTERNET CORPORATION FOR ASSIGNED NAMES AND NUMBERS, although many documents still refer to it by its original name.
