HTML form A set of WIDGETS which implements a FORM, which is embedded in an HTML PAGE, and which is defined using the HYPERTEXT MARKUP LANGUAGE. It contains all the visual objects that you would normally associate with forms such as BUTTONS and TEXT BOXes. When a user employs a form, for example a form which implements a GUEST BOOK, the data that is contained on the form is sent to the WEB SERVER that stores the page in which the form is displayed. A Web server then often employs CGI SCRIPTS to process the form: for example, storing the data provided by the user in a database and sending an HTML page back acknowledging the data. Forms can also be found on Web pages embedded in APPLETS or in ACTIVE X CONTROLS. The rise of JAVA and JAVASCRIPT has meant that much form processing can be carried out by a Web CLIENT.
