Śrīmālā-devi-siṃhanāda Sūtra

Śrīmālā-devi-siṃhanāda Sūtra. ‘The Sūtra of Queen Śrīmālā’, a middle-period Mahāyāna sūtra important for its teachings related to the ‘embryonic Buddha’ (tathāgata-garbha) theory, the ‘one-vehicle’ (Ekayāna) doctrine, and its valorization of the female in the form of Queen Śrīmālā, the chief character of this text. It is predicted in the text that Queen Śrīmālā will become a Buddha and preside over her own Buddha-field (Buddha-kṣetra). The text survives in recently discovered Sanskrit fragments as well as Chinese and Tibetan translations.
