Hui-wen

Hui-wen (fl. 550). The first patriarch of the T'ien-t'ai school of Buddhism in China. Almost nothing is known of him, except that he was the teacher of Hui-ssu (515–77), who in turn was the master of the de facto founder of the school, Chih-i (538–97).
