Pañjābī or Punjābī. 1. Person whose family originates from
Pañjāb, often referring to its pre-1947 boundaries.
2. Mother tongue of Pañjābīs, regardless of their religion. Pañjābī, in
Gurmukhī script, is the official language of Indian Pañjāb, and has been especially respected by Sikhs.
