azulejo. Glazed earthenware lustrous tile, brightly coloured and ornamented with geometrical and floral patterns, found in alicatado work in the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America. The term is also applied to Dutch or Delft glazed tiles in which the predominant colour is blue.
