Trajanic column

Trajanic column. Large commemorative single free-standing column, essentially of the Tuscan Order, also called a Gigantic Order, with internal winding-stair, spiral bands of relief sculpture winding around the shaft, a large pedestal-base, and a commemorative statue on top. It is named after the Antique column of Emperor Trajan (ad 98–117) in Rome (c. ad 112–13). See also antonine column, triumphal column.
