Tecton. Association of London architects established by
Lubetkin in 1932, arguably the most influential promoter of
International Modernism in the UK until it broke up in 1948. Its best-known works are various structures for London Zoo, Regent's Park (1932–7), including the Gorilla House (1932) and Penguin Pool (1933–4); the apartment-blocks at Highgate, London, known as Highpoint I (1933–5) and II (1936–8); the slab-blocks of flats at Spa Fields, Clerkenwell, London (1939–49); and the much-praised Finsbury Health Centre, London (1935–8). Tecton also designed several significant private houses as well as various buildings for Whipsnade Zoo, Beds., and Dudley Zoo, Staffs.
