Price, Bruce (1843–1903). American architect. He designed around 40 vigorous
Shingle-style houses at Tuxedo Park, Rockland County, NY (1885–90), with pronounced axes, which influenced Frank Lloyd
Wright and the
Prairie School. His Windsor Station, Montreal, Canada (1888–9), was in a round-arched style strongly influenced by the work of H. H.
Richardson, but his Banff Springs Hotel, Alberta (1886–8), and Château Frontenac Hotel, Quebec (1892–3), drew on wider ranges of eclecticism (especially from French and Scots exemplars) for their highly effective compositions. One of his last works was the Gould House, Lakewood, NJ (1897–8), a magnificent essay in
Classicism.
