Gruppo 7. Association of seven Italian architects ( Ubaldo Castagnoli (soon replaced by A. Libera), L. Figini, Guido Frette (1901– ), Sebastiano Larco (1901– ), G. Pollini, Carlo Enrico Rava (1903–85), and G. Terragni) formed in 1926, which, in their exhibition at Monza in 1927 and their manifesto of 1926–7 in La Rassegna Italiana (The Italian Review), promoted a national modern Rationalism in which the Classical heritage of Italy and a machine aesthetic derived from Le Corbusier were balanced. The Movimento Italiano per L'Archi-tettura Razionale (MIAR) developed from Gruppo 7 (1930). Works associated with the group include Terragni's Novocomum Apartment Block, Como (1927–9), Libera's façade for the Exhibition of the Fascist Revolution, Rome (1932), and the Città Universitaria, Rome (1930s). Most Gruppo 7 members were closely associated with support for Mussolini's Fascists.
