Bourgeois, Victor (1897–1962). Born in Charleroi, Belgium, he practised as an architect in Brussels from 1920. He became the leading Belgian disciple of Le Corbusier. As Vice-President of CIAM he was an important advocate of International Modernism in Belgium. His most celebrated work was the municipal housing-scheme or Cité Moderne at Sint-Agatha Berchem, near Brussels (1922–5), influenced by Tony Garnier's Cité Industrielle and by Frank Lloyd Wright. Other works include a house at the Weissenhofsiedlung in Stuttgart (1927). He was active as an architect and planner until his death, designing many building-types.
