Achievement of Arms

Achievement of Arms. Collected armorial ensigns consisting of shield of arms, crest, helm, mantling, and motto, with supporters and heraldic badge as appropriate. It is corrupted as hatchment, and this term denotes an Achievement of Arms painted on a diamond-shaped frame hung on a house following a death (and thereafter displayed in a church).
