No long johns, and Gordie's Saints shine

JOLIET - Legendary University of St. Francis baseball coach Gordie Gillespie was in his glory.
A March 18 doubleheader at Silver Cross Field - and no long underwear.
The Saints returned last weekend from their annual trip to Florida and met St. Ambrose in a pair of nonconference games Wednesday to kick off the home season.
That USF swept the doubleheader with a pair of one-run victories, extending its winning streak to five, was nice and all. But if the deep freeze accompanies the Ws, that's not nearly as much fun.
