Group to protest closing of Dawes mansion

Members of a new citizens group are planning a protest rally and news conference for 10 a.m. Thursday in front of the city's landmark Dawes mansion, at 225 Greenwood St., calling for the Evanston History Center to reopen.

In a press release issued this week, the group, which calls itself General Dawes Returns, is demanding that Northwestern University President Henry Bienen make needed repairs to the building, which houses the History Center, and allow it to reopen to the public.
