Mores takes over as chief of Joliet Fire Department

JOLIET - Larry Mores always knew he wanted to be a firefighter.
He has a photograph to prove it, a faded black-and-white of him as a young boy smiling broadly as he stands in front of a Joliet fire engine. The date on the back of the picture is October 1966.
When he was 5 years old, he asked his father to take him to the neighborhood fire station. They showed up unannounced. The crew let him try on their boots and helmets and other gear.
He began dragging his dad to the station at least once a week until he was old enough to visit on his own.
