Step into Civil War times at Des Plaines Campgrounds' fair

The Des Plaines Methodist Campground is throwing open its gates from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. this weekend for its largest fundraiser of the year, the 48th annual Country Fair and Craft Show.
Proceeds of the event will be used to help restore the Campground, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places May 22, 2005, because of 100 structures on the site that pre-date the 1871 Chicago Fire.
The fair will offer a Civil War living history program, presented by historic re-enactors who take on the personas of actual soldiers who served on both sides during the war.
