Pinochle players enjoy pastime

Bridge expert Omar Shariff should beware, or some passionate pinochle players from Mundelein may take aim at his newspaper column space.

Week in and week out, Mundelein seniors bid and trump it out at the card tables at Mundelein Senior Center. The Monday afternoon ritual is one of the senior center's most popular activities, luring out more than 40 players a week.

"I've played it for years," senior Judy Becker said. "It's just a good game."

"This is a big card playing group," Dawn Lantz, recreation supervisor for the Mundelein Park District, said.
