Ascension hits boards in consolation win over St. Edmund

Maybe Ascension coach Tim Kuhfuss had a pregame premonition.

Or perhaps Kuhfuss decided his players needed to work on their rebounding skills after the Chargers had a tough time keeping Roosevelt off the boards in a second round game.

Either way, Ascension spent time at practice on Saturday morning working on boxing out.

The work paid off later in the day as Ascension posted a 47-27 win over St. Edmund to win the consolation bracket title at the Oak Leaves/Forest Leaves Tony Trofimuk Villages Tournament at Oak Park-River Forest High School.

The Chargers finished the game with 43 rebounds ...
