Dutch Wood retires after lifetime in pools

After a lifetime in water and swimming pools, Karen "Dutch" Wood is retiring from her work at the Lake Bluff Park District Pool but intends to continue teaching aqua-aerobics.

She leaves behind a swim program with a reputation for consistent quality and maturity, according to Walt Schamber, General Manager of the Park District.

Year-after-year, she brought her own talents and those

of her swim staff to people using the pool and learning to swim.

"Mostly what she does is communicate her enthusiasm for swimming through her teaching and to her staff," Schamber said.
