Lakes' quality raises concerns

On a lakeside walk with her husband June 6, Linda Curtis noticed a disturbing addition to the normally pristine shoreline of Cedar Lake.

"I've never seen so many dead fish," said the Lake Villa resident.

Cedar Lake, historically clean and teeming with a "jungle-like array" of plant life, may be in danger from pollutants and invasive plants, said Curtis, a recently retired College of Lake County biology professor.

Curtis and other Lake Villa residents are invited to meet with Lake County Health Department researchers at the Lake Villa Township Hall to voice their concerns about the ...
