Party dedicates Bannockburn's first open space

Nine years ago, in 1994, a Bannockburn homeowner named "Seawall" living adjacent to Village Hall offered to sell his property to the village.

That proposal set in motion a series of events that has culminated in the dedication this Sunday of Bannockburn's first and only "Open Space" -- known in any other community as a park.

The 12-acre $950,000 park now includes a gazebo with a fireplace and room for a small party, a playground, a space for an outdoor ice rink, two outdoor restrooms open from 9 a.m. to dusk, and paths that meander around the site through mature woodlands and native ...
