Island Lake's mayoral election was decided three months ago, but sparring between the two men who ran isn't over.

Mayor Tom Hyde said June 3 he wants Trustee Tom Martin removed as chairman and member of the Police Committee, charging the Police Department's budget, vehicle maintenance and promotions have been mismanaged.

Martin, who lost to Hyde in the mayor's race, has been chairman of the Police Committee for four years. Hyde's desire to remove him requires board approval but is not on the agenda for tonight's (Thursday's) business meeting.
