Bannockburn: 75 years of estate living

Some 75 years after the Great Depression dashed Bannockburn founder and architect William Aitken's grandiose plans for an elaborate but never built market square, plaisance and playground at Telegraph and Stirling roads, the village has finally realized some of his dreams.

At its annual Bannockburn Days celebration Aug. 29, children played at a playground at the village's 12-acre open space campus that also includes the neighboring village hall and the historic Bannockburn School.
