In his script for "Sexual Perversity in Chicago," David Mamet describes the play's setting: "Various spots around the North Side of Chicago, a Big City on the Lake."

That would also be a fitting description of Mamet's early days as a playwright, when the time he spent at various locations around Chicago inspired his groundbreaking plays.
