The Chester County (Pa.) Mushroom Festival's fifth annual mushroom cookoff is history, but its championship recipes live on.
The cookoff was held recently in Kennett Square, in the heart of mushroom country. About 110 mushroom growers have their headquarters in southern Chester County, where "peat" and "spawn" are common words in company names.
