EXPANDED PROGRAM FOR PROBLEM DRINKERS OK'D

An expanded Antabuse program to get problem drinkers on the road to sobriety has gotten the OK from the Porter County Council.
Tuesday night, the Council authorized spending $18,400 for nurses, security officers, medication and office supplies, and another $11,000 for rent at a Portage office.
Kandyce Hannon, director of the Porter County Alcohol and Drug Offender Service, said the only item delaying the start of the program is hiring security officers. They will be on duty when nurses are administering medication.
