Even with his last request, John M. Morris remained loyal to his political convictions. The former Gary man was a member of the Socialist Labor Party for more than half of the 20th century. His last wish: donations in his name to the party.

Mr. Morris, who spent his last years in Bradenton, Fla., died May 4 at the age of 83.

More than a member, Mr. Morris ran for governor of Indiana on the party's ticket ...
