Birkett says no shortage of white-collar crimes in DuPage

When Joe Birkett became DuPage County state's attorney in 1996, one of his first tasks was to devote more resources to combat white-collar crimes. Before taking office, one prosecutor was assigned to white-collar crimes, but today there are four. The DuPage County state's attorney's office on average recovers $250,000 annually, but this year Birkett said restitution through his office will top $1 million.
