Lent has restaurants hooking diners with fish and other meatless entrees

Although people no longer have to endure a diet of bread and water during certain days of Lent as they did during the Middle Ages, the season for many is still a time from refraining from meat and giving up their favorite foods.
Some area restaurants and meat markets notice their customers buy more of certain foods and less of others during the 40 days of observance between Ash Wednesday and Easter.
"People are definitely into our pepper and eggs," said John Gill, marketing director of Buona Beef, a family-owned chain. "It's very popular during Lent."
