Listening Station: `Nirvana' testament to what was and what-ifs

Ten years ago, Nirvana lobbed a hand grenade into the music mainstream. The song "Smells Like Teen Spirit" instantly incinerated hair metal, and the album "Nevermind" eventually banished the King of Pop. "Nirvana," a simply titled compilation spanning the band's abbreviated career, finally was released this month on DGC after much legal wrangling between the surviving band members and Kurt Cobain's widow, Courtney Love. It is a remarkable, tightly packaged testament to what the group accomplished in such a short time.
