Watercolor paintings bring inner peace

Every time she paints, Gloria Praschak says she feels like "she's floating on the paper." As a member of 18 Artists Gallery in Chesterton, the retired nurse and former small-business owner has a joint show this month for her watercolor dunescapes and flowers.

But before she started painting, she was afraid to try any hobby until art was suggested to her for anxiety therapy.

"The first time, I could hardly touch the paper with the brush," the Valparaiso resident said.
