Duneland School Board member Dawn R. Rogers, 46, died Saturday, ending a two-year battle with lung cancer.
Rogers fought hard against the cancer, beating doctors' expectations, said Larry Rogers, her husband of 21 years.
"She had been fighting it," he said.
"She took a turn for the worst about 30 days ago."
Rogers described his wife as very intense and focused.
Those characteristics played out in the Duneland Schools board room where Mrs. Rogers served for almost three terms.
