Now here's a sentence seldom uttered: I wish I could play the oboe.
It has always been that way, it seems.
When Grover Schiltz was young, everyone wanted to take saxophone or clarinet or trumpet.
Those were the attractive instruments.
Nobody wanted to play the oboe.
Not even Grover Schiltz.
There are advantages, of course.
The oboe is largely a solo instrument, and that comes with lots of responsibility ...
