EAST DUNDEE -- Mail carrier Steven Granhold knows all too well about the power of a rumor. He was doing his regular mail route down River Street in East Dundee last week when he began to hear five words over and over again from various people in the village.

"Have you seen Tom Hanks?" they would ask frantically as he made his stops last Thursday.
