ZION CHURCH A LINK TO CIVIL WAR TIMES

During the height of the Civil War, a church was built in Wheatland Township that served as the backbone of the growing farming community.
The Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, located on the northeast corner of 111th Street and Book Road, was built in 1864 for approximately $3,100 after Thomas Clow Sr. handed over the deed to the land.
For more than 100 years, this church was the glue that held together a neighborhood spread across acres of farmland.
