DRESSES STITCHED WITH MEMORIES

"Oh, Mom, that's my first Communion dress."
While helping her mother clean out the basement in preparation for a remodeling project, Donna Schaffer spied a little white dress hanging in a corner.
The memories flooded back from more than 30 years ago, when she wore the dress and stood in front of Father Condon at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Naperville.
Her mother had bought the dress at Broeker's Department Store in downtown Naperville when her older sister, Roxy, had made her first Communion.
Even though it was a hand-me-down, Schaffer was thrilled.
